OMO5 Gotanda

For the first times, we discovered the universe of OMO. OMO is one of the brands of Hoshino Resorts. It is an urban 'city-center' hotel. OMO hotels are categorized by numbers, 1, 3, 5, and 7, the higher the number, the more service experiences guests would have.

For us, we chose OMO5 Gotanda which fall under the category boutique-hotel. OMO5 Gotanda is just ten minutes walk from Gotanda Station on the JR Yamanote Line and Toiei Asakusa Line.

OMO5 is located in the JP building on the 14th floors. The lobby is the most impressive feature of the hotel, with its space, design, high ceilings, and large windows creating a sense of grandeur.

The main lobby features a library lounge known as 'OMO-Base' where guests can read, unwind, or wait for their partners and families. But the main attraction on the 14th floor next to the lobby is the Zen floating garden. At night, it is illuminated, offering a view of the night sky and starlit sky.

The check-in process involves scanning passports and receiving key cards for the room. There is no service by the staff, guests have to carry its own luggages.

Our room has an amazing view of Tokyo, but strangely dysfonctional. The place to wash our face and brush our teeth is right next to our bed without any separation. Although the bathroom is small, the toilet room is wide, which is a drawback. The design is very unusual

The OMO Cafe located on the 14th floor offers breakfast, lunch, and a cafe menu. Two breakfast options are available to guests: the Japanese or the Western one. After testing both, we concluded that the Japanese one was superior.

The hotel's facilities include a gym and laundry room, which are positive aspects.

For long-term travelers like us who  traveling with an adolescent kid, having a coin-operated laundry is great.

What we loved about our stay at OMO5 Gotanda was the area, we loved the design of the lobby and the Zen floating-garden, the gym and the laundry room, but we found our room not very comfortable and bizzarely conceived and for the price we paid (175 Euros per night) for three with breakfast included for Tokyo was fairly correct.
