Osteria Giorgione da MASA – A collaboration between Masahiro Homma, nicknamed Masa, a Japanese chef from Kobe, and the Venetian family that runs the Hotel Giorgione, Osteria Giorgione da MASA offers a wonderful change of pace from the city's otherwise exclusively Venetian culinary scene. Here, sarde in saor are served with daikon radish and soy sauce, while homemade gyoza are filled with grilled shrimp; bowls of udon make for excellent vegetarian options. The handwritten menu changes daily based on the availability of produce from the Rialto market—focusing on the concept of cicchetti (small plates) and is accompanied by a wide selection of natural wines.
For our dinner, we chose, the chef's selection of eight cicchetti for 28 euros. The flavors really shone in the chef’s selection of The dishes were excellent, but we were disappointed by the portion sizes. At that price, the servings should have been generous; unfortunately, the quantities bordered on the ridiculous. It’s a shame, because the taste was spot-on.
The drinks and the wine list were very good; the place is well-known for its natural wines.
The service was very nice and kind; the servers were very good at explaining all the dishes.
A distinctive culinary experience at Osteria Giorgione da MASA. Far removed from conventional tourist haunts, this restaurant offers an original and captivating concept. A unique establishment that simply deserves a touch more generous on the plate.
