Barcelona, one of our favorite cities in Europe and the city of one of our great friends, was chosen as the location for our annual reunion with a group of friends this year.
For our celebration, we picked Prodigi restaurant, which is run by chef-owner Jordi Tarré. Jordi Tarré is among the youngest chefs in Spain to receive one Michelin star.
We chose a tasting menu of seven dishes for dinner. Three appetizers are served in the first course, which is then followed by four main courses, a pre-dessert, and dessert.
The chef combines traditional Catalan cooking with flavors from around the world, for example dishes like the "Creamy rice with squid and sobrasada, squid and lime slices, wasabi emulsion and sea sprouts" and "Tandoori masala pigeon with chestnut and carob dim sum, roasted sweet potato cream, turmeric and tamarind gel" are both creative and familiar. And that is what makes Jordi Tarré's cooking exciting. The menu changes every three months to highlight fresh seasonal ingredients, making each visit a new experience.
For the wine, we took the wine pairing suggested by our sommelier, which was a very interesting combination, and the chef was kind enough to accept that we bring one bottle of our wine for our dinner.
Jordi Tarré and his team provided a warm, welcoming, heartfelt, and highly friendly service.
Prodigi and his chef, Jordi Tarré are sure bet in Barcelona; great food, wonderful chef and nice location.
