Pottkind

Pottkind is one of the eleven Michelin-starred restaurants in Cologne, and we were happy to choose the restaurant of Enrico Sablotny and Lukas Winkelmann for our long weekend in Cologne.
Enrico Sablotny's cooking is daring because he is not afraid to combine different ingredients and textures to create his dishes. Some combinations were amazingly good, and others were mismatches. The Carte Blanche surprise menu was imaginative and very good overall.

The chef uses only top and seasonal ingredients to prepare the six dishes that compose his degustation menu. Each dish is like a work of art, like the carefully selected artworks on the wall.

For the wines, Pottkind had a diverse and eclectic wine list; it goes from Germany to South Africa, Austria to Israel, and France to Chile, and of course Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese ones as well. They also have a non-alcoholic selection which was very good..

The service was attentive, professional, and charming, which contributed to the pleasantly unpretentious atmosphere.

Pottkind is nice contemporary high dining without the pretentiousness of most Michelin-starred restaurants.
